Install the TravelPanda plugin

If your Codex version supports plugins, run these two lines in a terminal. No GitHub account is needed. Then follow the sign-in prompt in your assistant.

Advanced: connect without the plugin

1. Add the connection settings

Open .codex/config.toml in your home folder and add this section, keeping your other settings. If it already contains travelpanda, update that section instead. If you connected through the TravelPanda plugin, use that connection without adding a second one.

Run this command in a terminal on the same computer. In the browser that opens, sign in to TravelPanda and choose your permissions and cumulative Bamboo allowance. No API key is needed.

Once connected, you’re ready to go. Tell your assistant what you would like to do, whether that’s planning your first trip or continuing an existing one.

Know what you are allowing

Read your account and trips

The assistant can read the balance, membership and saved trips available to your connected account. Read-only access cannot generate or change a trip.

Create or preview changes

Generation uses Bamboo within the cumulative allowance you grant this connection. Some Bamboo is held when work begins, then settled against actual usage, with any unused hold released. The hold is not a fixed total price or a per-trip spending cap.

Choose which changes to keep

Generating a change preview uses Bamboo even if you do not keep it. Applying an existing preview requires your confirmation and does not generate or charge again. A newer trip version must be reviewed before applying conflicting changes.

Trip planning needs an internet connection and the relevant permissions and balance. TravelPanda does not book hotels, transport or tickets through this connection. Check opening times, availability and travel details before you go.

What is shared, and what stays under your control

This notice supplements the TravelPanda Privacy Policy for assistant connections. TravelPanda receives the travel requirements and tool requests sent by your assistant. Authorized account details, trip content, task results and usage information are returned to that assistant provider, which handles them under its own privacy policy.

TravelPanda processes this information through its cloud services and relevant AI and travel-data providers to generate, save and recover your trip. Only share travel information needed for the task; do not send passwords, payment-card details or identity documents.

For security, rate limiting, usage reconciliation and fault recovery, TravelPanda records request and task references, tool names, outcomes, timing and usage, with hashed account and connection identifiers. These tool-audit records exclude raw prompts, trip text, emails and access tokens. This does not describe all data stored to deliver the service.

Saved trips remain in your account until deleted. Temporary task data and authorization records follow service retention and expiry controls; necessary security and transaction records may remain for recovery, disputes or legal obligations. See the Privacy Policy for data requests and contact support for retention questions.

Disconnecting blocks future access and token refresh. It does not delete your account, erase information already received by your assistant, or automatically cancel or refund work already accepted. Manage connections below; request account deletion through the account support site.

If something needs attention

Access or balance is unavailable

Ask the assistant to explain the returned status. Check your permissions and connection allowance. An unknown balance is not zero; wait and retry the check when the service recovers.

A request was interrupted

Ask for the status of the original task. Do not start the same generation again while its result or charge is uncertain.

Your assistant cannot connect

Ask it to check the supported options in the official guide. If it cannot install connections itself, follow the manual steps for a supported assistant. If a supported connection still fails, send support the error without passwords or tokens.
